Who is Studio 68?
Poise. Teamwork. Fun. Coordination. Self-discipline. Confidence. These are the real benefits of dance lessons, and they will last forever. At Studio 68, you will see these things everyday. You'll receive the highest quality dance education from nationally certified instructors or instructors currently pursuing certification. Faculty & Staff Natalie Dobbins started dancing when she was four years old. After graduation from Wilkes Central High School, she attended NC School of the Arts as a dance major. Miss Natalie has been teaching dance in Wilkes County for 16 years. In 1996 she earned her certification to teach from Dance Masters of America. Her students have won numerous awards on regional and national levels. Stephanie Jordan Mayberry also began dancing at the age of four. For several years, she performed as a Carolina Dance Masters Protege, a travelling group of dancers from across the state chosen by audition. She was named as a finalist for Junior Miss and Teen Miss Dance of NC, and was twice named to the Top 10 for Miss Dance of NC. Miss Stephanie graduated Magna Cum Laude from Meredith College with a B.A. in English and a minor in Professional Communications. Amanda Critz began dancing at the age of three and has studied under numerous professional teachers and choreographers. She was a member of the ASU Dance Team and the Carolina Tap Company. She has also performed in several of the musicals and dance concerts at UNC Charlotte where she was very active in the Dance and Theatre department. Miss Amanda graduated Cum Laude from UNC Charlotte with a B.A. in Dance and a concentration in Dance Education. Maria Bailey has 16 years experience in dance and dance instruction, having taught ballet, tap and jazz prior to joining the staff of Studio 68. As a dancer herself, Maria has represented Wilkes, Surry and Yadkin counties as winner of the Tri-County Junior Miss pageant and participated in Junior Miss and Miss Dance of the Carolinas. A graduate of Wilkes Central High School, Maria received her B.S. degree in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University where she graduated magna cum laude. She is a member of the preschool staff at North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Church and has two beautiful children with husband, Tony. Office manager Debbie Coles is known affectionately as "the Dancers' Principal." She makes sure the studio is organized and efficient. If you ever need to know anything, just ask Miss Debbie! Office manager, Carmen Jordan, is no stranger to the dance world. As Miss Stephanie's mom, Miss Carmen spent countless hours at the dance studio, driving to performances, doing hair, and buying leotards. We're thrilled that both Miss Carmen and Miss Debbie came out of retirement to help at Studio 68. Our Studio Our brand new facility is conveniently located between downtown Wilkesboro and Wilkes Community College, just behind Dwight Phillips Auto Sales. We share our spacious parking lot with Yadkin Valley Gymnastics and The Dugout Batting Center, so there's something for the entire family. Our Name So what does Studio 68 mean? We both grew up and took dance in Wilkes County. Our teacher, Miss Margie, taught us many things that made us strong, caring, successful people. She inspired respect, passion, and determination in us and countless others throughout her lifetime. Miss Margie was an amazing person, a talented dancer, and a respectable business owner. And she happened to start her business in the basement of her home in 1968. Our hope is to carry on that legacy in a way that would make her proud - thus, Studio 68 for Dance and Performing Arts was born. |
